Live Photo Capture Rules — per the Official RRB FAQ for CEN 06/2025
The photograph is captured live inside the application module — by webcam or, via a QR code shown on screen, your smartphone’s front camera. These are the rules the official FAQ and Para 14.4 of CEN 06/2025 lay down:

How to Use
- 1. Upload your scanned signature
Sign in running handwriting with black ink on white paper inside a 35mm × 20mm box (per Para 14.5.1 of CEN 06/2025), scan or photograph it at 100 DPI or more, then upload the image — JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
- 2. Crop to the 7:3 signature ratio
Use the aspect-ratio-locked crop tool to frame just the signature, centered the way the RRB scan box requires. The tool outputs at least 140×60 pixels, sized up automatically so the file can reach the 30KB floor.

Why Use This Tool
The current RRB spec is not what most resize tools tell you
The rules changed with the rrbapply.gov.in application module, and most “RRB photo resizer” pages never caught up. Per the official RRB FAQ for CEN 06/2025 (hosted by RRB Mumbai), there is no photo upload at all anymore: you “must capture a live photograph” during the application using a webcam or your phone’s front camera, and “uploading pre-existing photo is not permitted.” Para 14.4 goes further — any application where a printed or digital pre-existing photograph is captured “will be summarily rejected.” The signature is the only image every candidate uploads, and it has a strict window: JPG/JPEG, between 30KB and 49KB, at least 140×60 pixels, scanned at 100 DPI or more, signed in running handwriting with black ink on white paper inside a 35mm × 20mm box (Para 14.5.1). The only other upload exists for SC/ST candidates — a caste certificate PDF up to 400KB, needed for the free rail travel pass.
The 30KB floor is the trap this tool exists for
A signature scanned at the 140×60 pixel minimum almost always compresses to well under 30KB — and the portal rejects files under the floor just as surely as oversized ones. The floor is there for a reason: an over-compressed signature turns into a smudge that cannot be matched against your handwriting at document verification, and “blurred signature” was a reported rejection reason throughout the CEN 06/2025 cycle. This tool treats 140×60 as the minimum it is: it renders your crop at 2×, 3×, or 4× that size until the full-quality JPEG clears 30KB, then fine-tunes compression so the file lands inside 30–49KB. A checklist confirms dimensions, format, and file size before you download rrb-signature.jpg.
Rejection is close to unfixable — get it right before submission
The stakes are higher than most applicants realise. Per the official RRB FAQ, once your application status is published as rejected, “no correspondence from ineligible/rejected candidates will be entertained” — the Rs 250-per-occasion modification window (originally scheduled 23 November–2 December 2025 for CEN 06/2025, with the dates later shifted by Corrigendum-1) is the only sanctioned way to fix a bad photo or signature, and the account details you register with (email, mobile) plus your chosen RRB can never be changed at all. The fee is refunded (minus bank charges) only to candidates who actually attend CBT-1, so a rejected form forfeits both the attempt and the money.
Ready before the next NTPC CEN — expected around August 2026
Both current NTPC notifications — CEN 06/2025 (Graduate, 5,810 posts) and CEN 07/2025 (Undergraduate, 3,058 posts) — closed in November–December 2025. But the RRB Annual Calendar 2026, issued 5 December 2025, slots the next NTPC notification around August 2026, and it is expected to run on the same rrbapply.gov.in module with the same signature spec.
